Authors a true Italian-Asian collaboration

 

This site is an Italian-Asian collaboration my husband is the true Piedmontese while I am from Hong Kong. He is Andrea, I am Joyce. Whose idea was it? It was the wife. Does this sound familiar to all you married couples out there?

Like millions around the world who lost their jobs in the 2008 financial crisis we returned to Turin, Italy hoping to sit it out. Oops, this was not to be a few months affair. As days goes by we hear more woes and more friends losing their jobs. We spend hours pouring through the internet hoping to find works, new ideas, any inspirations we can lay our hands on to make our days meaningful. In between these rituals we re-decorated our home and fixed things around the home. My husband became the regular handy-man while I started exploring recipes from Asian to Italian and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Italian desserts are my favorites!! We spend alot of time searching out cookbooks, household renovation tips and inviting friends over for meals. Our Italian kitchen now is well equipped with Asian cooking utensils as well as Italian. I took up cooking as a hobby and started taking cooking lessons from friends and at events. On the side my husband spends alot of his time refining his flying skills - flight simulator that is.

When we told my father-in-law Gian Carlo that we were planning to develop this site to introduce Piedmont Italy to the world he wanted to get into the game too. He is an excellent 'Italian chef' and is extremely proud of his Piedmontese roots. He started searching out information for us to use. Everyday he brings home snippets of interesting news, pictures and brochures. Now it looks like we are a company of 3. So you see information that we have assembled here are authentic Piedmont interpretations except for the one Asian who is the chief programmer. We have three authors on this site! You can call this a family-venture.

Our intentions is to bring you true accurate account of what it is like living in Piedmont Italy, help you cross-over (as I have) navigating all your challenges of Italian bureaucracy and culture. I speak very little Italian myself - well someday I hope to speak Italian fluently. Yes, I am attending Italian classes and my classmates are from all over the world. This makes life as an expatriate interesting meeting new people across the globe, discovering new culture. Through them I learn, through my family I learn. All my learning's are going into this site to grow it into a rich information reservoir for surviving and prospering in Piedmont Italy as well for travelers planning to explore North Italy.

 

Andrea and I are frequent travelers, we have traveled extensively and learnt first hand on travel planning plus making mistakes ohhhhh...... we have made a few of those boo boo. From the days of planning trips with a travel agent to today in the age of E-tourism, self-sufficient doing all our travel plans, booking and buying online, we have evolved with the travel industry and learnt to shop TRAVEL smartly online. You will be surprise how much more you can get from doing your trip planning yourself vs using a travel agency.

 

COMING BACK TO JOB FRONT

The facts are clear to see that jobs are not out there, so we have decided to make this OUR JOB. Why not? Millions of people have started similar venture - ok call it 'me-too' no niche marketing but it is a decent career. Important lesson to learn from this worldwide financial catastrophe is we must ADAPT. Those who failed to adapt are the ones who WILL perish.

What do we know about building high-traffic generating web site? Not very much to be honest. What we have is time, with it we shall learn. With this statement we would like to thank our friend in California Annelie Piccino who held our hands through this process. Taught us from ground zero and patiently corrects us along the way. You can do it too. This was ONE of those inspired venture we gathered from surfing the internet called Site Build it.It will open up a whole new world to you, along the way we guarantee you will make many new friends and gained invaluable experiences. This is our journey and we hope you will come along for the ride.
