Italian Holidays: Almost Everyone’s Dream Holiday Destination
Images of typical Italian holidays – the architecture, colorful festivals, Italian food and wine, history of Roman Catholicism in Vatican City, and all its splendor. Some could say it’s a country all its own, even though it’s located inside of Rome. Complete with museums, ancient churches, historical art pieces, olympic-style ski slopes and winter resorts, fashion and design capitol of the world…I could go on and on but I think you understand what I’m trying to illustrate. It is our home so we can be a little biased! There’s something for everyone here in Italy.
WHERE IN ITALY?
Depending on which Italian holidays you are seeking and the amount of time you have on your hands, you can decide up North, down South, East or West of Italy. Many people make their way to North Piedmont region for business and winter sports. The government and private enterprises aggressively promote Turin as the center for R & D in technology, while Fiat and Ferrari have made the Northern region an automobile industry paradise.
Hollywood had romanticized Tuscany in many movies. One of our favorites is Under theTuscan Sun starring Diane Lane. Watching that movie beckons you to visit Tuscany, maybe even put down roots and establish a new home. Venice and Florence…who hasn’t heard of these two cities? They are located in the Tuscany region. Salma Hayek recently wed in Venice to her French man. Tom Cruise’s wedding was the talk of Italy for months. Who else got married in Italy?
It’s the ambiance of Italian culture, hospitality, music, arts, food and wine. We believe it’s the Italian lifestyle of living and appreciating life that is the attraction.
Moving south is our capitol, Rome. Roman history…the best place for history lovers. Plenty to do and plenty to see. Museums are a must while visiting Rome. First, you should start with Vatican City. World famous are the Roman, Etruscan, Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian and modern religious art collections. Because there are so many attractions you will need at least a week in Rome. If time is not on your side, we encourage you to take the Rome tourist bus. They have an open top which allows you a full 360 degree panoramic view. All buses are equipped with personalized throw-away audio systems which function in six different languages, providing recorded commentary throughout the tour. You can hop on and off at each stop. The route covers approximately 17 attractions. Once you have identified an attraction that you would like to explore further, you can hop off and hop on at another time, allowing you to make the most of your Italian holiday while in Rome. Available for purchase are your choice of 12 and 24 hour tickets.
A WORD OF WARNING: Many of our museums and attractions often have long lines. Be sure to get there early. Rome is an incredibly popular tourist destination. All seasons are popular. We don’t have an “off season”. |

TRY PIEDMONT ITALY FIRST
This is the region least explored by tourists. If exploring without fighting with touristic crowds is what you seek, then without a doubt Piedmont Italy is the destination you should head for. There are cities, mountains, lakes and excellent Italian cuisines to offer you the best Italian holiday experience especially if this is your first trip to Italy.
Do not stay in a hotel if you want the real Italian cultural experience. Holiday rentals in Piedmont Italy is the way to go. Economic sense coupled with immerssion into Italian culture.
Further South of Italy
You are certainly going off the beaten path of your Italian holidays when you explore Sardinia and Sicily. Not many tourists venture this far. One thing is for sure… going South is much less expensive than going North. Notable regions in the south are Abruzzo, recently hit by the earthquake, and Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily. If you are serious about heading south then agriturismo (Italian farm holidays) is the way to go. You will also notice a slight difference in culture. Sicily for example has deep Greek history dating back to the 8th century. As you travel along you will also notice some influence from Northern Africa.
GOING TOWARDS EAST OF ITALY
North East is more popular than East - Venice for example is North East but in this paragraph I am talking East. This area is quite popular among the locals. The East includes places like Bari, Trieste, Ravenna, Rimini, Ancona, Pescar and Brindisi. The Adriatic coast is known for sumptuous seafood. Meals are available for low prices. Water sports are also very popular here. This part of Italy is generally rocky with many islands. Cost of living is less and many Italians choose to travel here for inexpensive holiday destinations.
