Italy Farms you can find around Piedmont Italy

You will be impressed with the variety of Italy farms you can choose to spend your Italian holidays around Piedmont Italy. These types of holidays are referred as Agriturismo in Italian, farm stays or farm holidays in other countries.

We are advocates of Italy farms holidays or Agriturismo simply because it is a holiday with a difference. If you really want to immerse yourself into Italian culture this is one of the best way of doing it. For those of you living in big cities, you must not give up a chance to try living on an Italy farm or other farms in other counties. Yes famous cities like Rome, Venice and Florence are all very exciting BUT they are after all another city plus hotels in main cities are very expensive. Holidaying in those cities we agree will give you a chance to touch and see famous landmarks. It is only the tip of the ice berg when compared to touching the real essence of Italian life which is very much in centred around Italian farms.
A LITTLE HISTORY HOW AGRITURISMO ALL BEGIN
Life was challenging as farmers in the 1970s especially when your farm was small - usually family owned farms were. This led to many farmers selling off and moving to big cities in search of work.
Some for the love of their land (Italians are especially proud of their land and value quality in their products). Quality is reflected in our Italian meals serves. In 1985 our Italian government passed a new law to help farmers supplement their incomes - it was defined as Agriturismo where farmers can supplement their income by taking in tourists/visitors into your farms.
This law works both ways. For the farmers extra income, for visitors a chance to sample the bounty of a rural life in Italy. Immersing herself or himself into true Italian country living.
To many this way of living is 'la dolce vita'. Meaning A beautiful life.
For a farmer to secure a Agriturismo license the farm must follow two highlights of this law:
1. The hours dedicate to room renting may not exceed the hours dedicated to agriculture.
2. The earnings from renting rooms may not exceed the earnings of agriculture.
This ensure that wherever you may decide to spend an Italian farm holiday that it is indeed a working farm and not solely commercial for tourists.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF AGRITURISMO

- You can participate in farm activities such as grape harvesting, picking fruits, picking olives to make olive oil, growing lavender, cooking Italian meals. Things you never get to do back home. Meals are served together with host family. A chance for you to get to know your host better and get to experience first hand their lifestyles. Breaking away from your routine is refreshing.

There are many sites that offer selection on Italy farm stays from basic apartments to ancient family villa. Take your pick based on your budget. Many of the Italy farms require a minimum of 3 days stay. It is really not that many days if you intend to explore such vacations. Give yourself at least a week to explore.
- In recent times there's been a lot of talk about Going Green Holidays. This is one such holiday. Try it and find out the difference for yourself.
- For avid Photographers you can't choose a better destination. Mountains, lakes, greens take your pick. Our landscape is simply breathtaking. Don't forget we are ideally located between the Italian alps and the Mediterrannean sea.
